We have an ambitious PE and Sports curriculum that promotes healthy lifestyles; encourages participation and competition in activities and to provide pupils the opportunities so they are inspired to be involved in sport as they journey through life.
Intent
- To promote spiritual, moral, social and cultural through PE and Sport.
- To develop the competence, creativity, performance and healthy lifestyle of all the children in our school.
- To ensure that all staff have high quality professional competence throughout all areas of the PE curriculum.
- To offer a broad curriculum and enrichment learning that inspires the children to participate in a wide range of physical activities and build on skills from previous years.
- To give the children the confidence to compete against other schools.
- To create an appropriate and challenging environment that will enable every child to fulfil their potential.
- To develop leadership through Sport and PE.
- To build partnerships with local sports clubs and the community to increase participation outside school.
Implementation
- Year 1-6 pupils are involved in 2 hours of timetabled PE per week.
- PE and Sport is taught through Games, Gymnastics, Dance.
- Swimming is taught in Year 4.
- Pupils are involved in enrichment units that are linked to games, sports and activities from around the world.
- Pupils are taught about health through fitness, diet and mental well being.
- Pupils have opportunities to attend additional after school Sports Clubs.
- Pupils are involved in School House Sports and compete in Bexley School Games and NGB events.
Impact
- Pupils are confident to participate and talk about their learning in PE and Sports Sessions.
- Pupils have a good level of technique Games, Dance and Gymnastics
- Pupils are involved in PE and Sport at playtime, lunchtime and after school sports activities
