UNICEF's Rights Respecting Schools

Sherwood Park Primary has signed up to become a UNICEF UK ‘Rights Respecting School’. Sherwood Park strives to be a school where children’s rights are at the heart of our culture and ethos. We want to improve our children’s emotional well-being and develop every child’s talents and abilities so that they can reach their full potential. As part of this work we are working towards recognition as a ‘Rights Respecting School’, an award given to schools on behalf of UNICEF UK.

Please click on the image to the left to find out more and keep an eye on school PING and this area of the website for updates and news on our award.

Additional Information

Please see below further information around Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA).  Some of our school council members spent time putting together a helpful leaflet for adults to learn more about RRSA.  Please click on the icon below to have a look!

Competition Time

The school council ran a competition to find the perfect RR mascot for Sherwood Park.  It was a tough decision as they had so many great entries but they finally decided on Sam who was created by a very talented Year 5 pupil.

We've had Sam professionally printed and mounted onto our school gates! Children will also be welcomed by Sam as they enter both the KS1 Hall and the KS2 Hall!

Examples of our RRSA work at Sherwood

Examples of some of the work the children at Sherwood Park have been doing around Rights Respecting Schools.

The children have all completed the Glbal Goals lesson and the Outright Programme for this year which focused on mental health.

The school council spent time during one of their meetings discussing how Sherwood Park help them to access their rights!

Charity Events

The children of Sherwood Park wanted to show their support to Ukraine.  During a school council meeting, they came up with the idea for a non-uniform day and a doughnut sale!  Between the two events, we managed to raise £251.39!!!  Well done Sherwood Park! A big thank you to our fabulous school council team!

A BIG thank you to everyone who contributed towards our ShoeShare at Sherwood Park! We were overwhelemed by the response to this RRS event - thank you to our school council for orgnaising this event!yes
